The Cadiz Rotary Club set a new benchmark for community participation Saturday morning with its annual Fill the Pits event.
A record-breaking 89 Boston butts and 169 chickens were prepared at the new Genesis Express location on Jefferson Street, benefiting both Genesis Express Inc. and the upcoming Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction.
The momentum continues Monday at 7:00 AM with the W.J. Hopson Kick-Off Breakfast at the Lake Barkley State Resort Park Convention Center. This gathering brings together community leaders and supporters to launch the 59th annual auction week before the live broadcast begins later that evening.
The auction will air nightly through Friday on WKDZ-FM 106.5 and online from the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex. Community members can bid on items via the HandBid app to help the club reach its $375,000 goal, with all proceeds supporting scholarships and youth and senior programs throughout Trigg County.
